Andrew and I are downsizing yet again and remodeling a condominium to move into next month.

bathroom remodelAlthough I may have vision when it comes to designing effective estate plans for clients, my vision does not extend to interior design. And forget Andrew—he’s even worse than me. I have a hard time visualizing what the end product will look like which is why we hired a professional to help guide us.

Plus, the design possibilities are endless. I easily become overwhelmed with so many choices. In fact, I even told my project manager to just run a design idea by me first rather than ask me to make too many decisions. I trust his judgment on most of the design aspects. After all, he has been doing this a long time and is an expert in his field.

We are definitely getting to the “fun” stages of the project. I ordered furniture last weekend and am now daydreaming what it will be like living in a newly remodeled space.

I’m not gonna lie, however. The thought of downsizing yet again is daunting.

Moving to a condo with only a carport from a house with a garage is a little overwhelming.

Where will I store the Christmas decorations, winter coats, bicycles, fishing gear … empty suitcases for God’s sake?

Although I may give in, I am currently refusing to rent a storage unit. That proverbial dumping ground that swallows up one’s “stuff,” locking it away never to be thought of again. Out of sight, out of mind. Yet you keep paying for the storage unit in perpetuity because it’s easier to pay the damn bill than face that black hole again and actually decide how you’re going to get rid of all of your s*&! that you really don’t use but for some reason just cannot part with. Only to leave it to your kids to clean up your mess when you’re gone….

Sorry, got carried away there for a moment. Can you tell downsizing is stressing me out just a tiny bit?

Well, I’m off to order window treatments and schedule the movers. My deadline is to finalize the move before my associate, Amanda, has her baby in a few weeks and begins maternity leave!
