“Are you kidding me?” ALL of the Labor Day classes at Orange Theory are already booked except for the 6:15am class?
The struggle was real.
On the one hand, I’d been a loaf the week before and REALLY needed this workout to kick start my crazy week. Plus, my jeans are starting to fit better and I REALLY don’t want to “pinch an inch” around my waist again. (Remember that classic 1984 Special K commercial?)
On the other hand, it was a holiday and I REALLY wanted to sleep in.
Dang it, guess I’ll forgo that glass of Pinot Noir tonight and that scoop of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia that was calling my name.
It was bad enough the thought of setting my alarm for 5am on a weekend, but I’d really be kicking myself trying to run, row & lift with a sugar induced bloat the next morning.
So I made the responsible choice and went to bed early ready to face my alarm clock at the ungodly hour of 5am.
Wouldn’t you know that I woke up at 4am instead? Life is cruel sometimes.
My workout summary on Labor Day. Yes, I really did to to class!
Just like my early morning workouts, I don’t think my clients really ever WANT to plan their estates.
I mean really, I can think of a dozen different ways I’d rather spend a couple of hours than talk to my attorney to plan my family’s affairs (although I think I’m kinda fun to talk to).
But like my internal workout struggle each morning, our clients come to see us because they are focused on the bigger picture.
They sacrifice some short-term “pain,” in exchange for the long term gain of avoiding a big mess in the future.
After all, no one wants their loved ones to deal with unnecessary government interference, lengthy time delays, exorbitant legal fees, and family fighting.
The trade-off of NOT planning is that your loved ones will pay the consequences of your failure to plan.

The good thing about working out when it is still dark out is that you are half-way through your workout before your body even realizes what the heck is going on.
Plus, I feel pretty darn productive when I get home and have already checked off one huge to-do on my list for the day.
I feel even better when I slip into my favorite pair of jeans.
