It’s fair to say that I am officially obsessed.

Obsessed with my Peloton that is.

Kristen Marks & her PelotonMy Peloton finally arrived last Tuesday afternoon. I rode a quick 20 minute ride to test it out but the rest of the week was a flurry of appointments with no time to ride. Leaving my home each morning at 6am and returning at 6pm, my Peloton sat lonely in my living room, taunting me, until the weekend.

I was excited Friday night, anticipating my first “real” ride on Saturday morning. I laid out my clothes and new clip in shoes, filled my water bottle, and checked my seat settings.

I awoke early before 6am even though my alarm was not set. Still dark, I decided to begin with my usual go-to morning workout: five minutes of core work, thirty minutes of yoga, and ten minutes of meditation.

Then, an unexpected thing happened when I was ready to hop on the bike.

I found myself getting a little flustered.

I put on my new bike shoes. I hoped I remembered how to clip into the pedals.

Once on my bike, I then stressed out a bit wondering which class I should take.

I’m a structured person and like knowing what to expect. I like working a “system.”

That’s why I routinely follow a thirty day yoga series so I know exactly what class I’m going to take each morning. Finished day 21 yesterday? Onto day 22 tomorrow. Finished day 30? Start a new thirty day series tomorrow with day 1.

With soooo many cycling classes to choose from on the Peloton app, I was overwhelmed, not knowing how or where to begin.

There was the music genre to think about, the class length, the instructor, the type of class.

Should I wait for the next live class to begin? No, I was ready to start riding right then.

After several minutes deliberating on my bike, I decided that I would begin my Peloton journey working my way through the four week “Discover Your Power Zone” series. It includes a fitness test to discover your current fitness level on the bike and your customized riding “zones” then show up on each successive class you take.

Similar to my Orange Theory experience where I can see which heart rate zone I’m working in throughout the class, I can ride knowing which personalized “power zone” I am working in.

The “Power Zones” methodology is similar to my initial client “estate plan discovery” conferences.

At My Pink Lawyer®, we use a methodical system to discover where you are starting from in your estate planning journey, explore the destination you want to achieve (what results do you want from your estate plan?), and then map out a plan to bridge that gap, getting you from Point A to B.

And, the best part of our estate planning journey together is that you don’t have to know how to begin. All you need to do is schedule a consultation with us. We then guide you through the rest of the estate planning process.

Periodically on the bike, I will take new Power Zone testing rides to gauge my fitness improvement over time.

Similarly, periodically I meet with my clients again to re-evaluate their existing estate plans to see if it still meets their changing needs and circumstances. We readjust their plan and clean up loose ends as necessary.

With my new obsession with my Peloton now in full swing, I face the tough decision about how to incorporate the classes into my morning fitness routine without sacrificing either my other fitness loves (yoga, core & meditation) or my sleep. I awake each weekday morning at 4:45am as it is!

At least I know what the next step is in my Peloton journey. I simply log on and take the next class in the series.
