You’ll judge yourself by how you showed up, by what you did, what you said, how you acted, and whether you performed the way you knew you could in any of the stages of life.
Just like any coach, when you hear the buzzer sound, I want you to look back and say,
‘I left nothing behind.
I gave it my all.
I did everything I wanted to do, and more important, I showed up as my Heroic Self with all of my capabilities, skills and intentions.
And it toppled dominoes, which changed my life in extraordinary, unpredictable ways.
And because I did this, I lived a full life.’”
The above quote is by Todd Herman, the author of The Alter Ego Effect: The Power of Secret Identities to Transform Your Life.
This quote struck a chord with me, because I would hate for you or me to near the end of our life with regrets of woulda’s, coulda’s & shoulda’s.
I never want to ask myself, “What if I had…?” or “If only I had …”
Seize today, my friend, and show up in ways that will amaze yourself.
Say, “I love you” to that someone special, your kids, even your friends.
Be the first to say that you’re sorry.
Call that person that you haven’t spoken with in ages but is on your heart.
Tip a little extra to your server (20% minimum!).
Wake up early and watch the sunrise. (Or in my case, stay up late and watch the sunset! Ha ha)
Ask yourself, if this was your last day on earth, how would you spend your time?
If you’re like me, I’d probably spend my last day on earth spending time with my family and friends and also getting my affairs organized for my loved ones so I don’t leave a mess behind for them to deal with.
Getting organized would be my final parting gift to my family. The legacy I leave them.
A loving legacy that I loved them enough to shoulder the load for them to clean up my own affairs in such a way that allows them the space to grieve and move forward with their lives without the additional unnecessary stress of added legal fees, time delays, and family misunderstandings.
But that’s just me.
