Hi again, friends!

It’s been over three years since I’ve written to you. I hope life has treated you well in the interim! It’s been a wild ride for me, and I’m beyond excited to be back with you and the My Pink Lawyer® Team.

In a nutshell, here’s what the last three years looked like for me:

In 2020 I made the tough decision to step away from My Pink Lawyer®. Between the pandemic, a small child whose school was closing almost weekly, another child on the way, purchasing and renovating a home for our family, and amidst a generally overwhelming season of life – I assessed our situation and made the call to step away.

I’m happy to report that it was the right choice for me and our family at the time.

It was a challenging period, but it was a period of immense growth for me and for our family (literally for my children who are now 4.5 and 2.5!).

Building my own practice was such an incredibly rewarding experience. I worked with amazing clients, learned more about running a business than I ever imagined (they definitely don’t teach you that in law school!) and helped a lot of people. My passion for estate planning never wavered; I truly love this area of law and the clients I get to work with.

I also gained so much perspective for business owners – especially those that do it well.

Fast forward a few years: The pandemic is finally in the rearview mirror, we are comfortably settled into our new home, my kids returned to school, and a semblance of normalcy (or as close to it as we get anyway!) has returned to our lives.

At just the right time, an opportunity to return to My Pink Lawyer® presented itself.

And I thought, “Huh… isn’t life cyclical.”

I have found in my life that the times when I thought I had it all figured out were the exact times that something even better presented itself.

I already knew – as you likely do too if you’re receiving this email – what a friendly, well-organized, and efficient firm My Pink Lawyer® is. The entire process flows from start to finish in such a remarkable way and that, my friends, is not coincidence. It’s the team, the systems, it’s by design!

And so, three years and some change later, I reassessed the situation and gratefully accepted Kristen’s offer to return.

You see, life isn’t linear. That’s true with estate planning, too.

What worked for you five years ago, or five months ago, or even five days ago may not be the right choice for you/your family today.

I have clients that get hung up in the details of the estate plan we are creating together because they think we must contemplate every possible scenario from now until 100.

We tend to overcomplicate things when, in fact, it really doesn’t have to be so difficult.

What is the best choice right now?

That is usually a relatively simple question to answer.

When we are consistently taking inventory of our current situation, we will inevitably make changes in the future, but it will happen in such a way that does not require us to have every single detail worked out to make progress.

Plan for today but be open to what may come; we’ll plan for the what-ifs and the hope-nots, too.

We can make revisions later down the road if needed, but the most important thing is simply to get a plan in place now.

If the process of estate planning seems overwhelming to you, I invite you to schedule an initial consultation to see just how straightforward it can be. If it’s been a while since you’ve reviewed your plan, I’d love to review it with you to ensure that your needs are still met.

Until next time!
