Empowered Women plan Early (and Often)

YOU are in control of your life.

You not only have the power to control your life now but you also have the power to control the succession of your affairs when you are no longer here on this earth.

Unfortunately, most women abdicate that responsibility and power by either electing, or refusing, to plan their affairs in advance when they had the opportunity to do so.

It is our loved ones who suffer the consequences of this failure.

Take control of your situation. You are not a victim of your circumstances.

I was born lower middle-class and raised by a single mom. She dropped out of college to have me and never finished. Her mother before her never finished high school and had my mother at a young age.

I was determined to make different choices in my life so that my kids would grow up in a more comfortable socioeconomic environment.

I studied diligently in high school and graduated at the top of my class.

I attended an Ivy League college and then graduated Magna Cum Laude (top 15%) from law school.

School didn’t necessarily come easy for me but I am a hard worker and I wasn't afraid to study. Frankly, I'm also a tad competitive so that helped my education drive as well.

I tell you all this to accentuate the point that life is not always easy.

Life is also not always fair.

We can't always control what happens to us but we can always control how we respond to what life throws our way.

Imagine the feeling of relief and satisfaction and peace of mind knowing that you have a sound, effective plan in place to save your loved ones from government interference, unnecessary time delays, thousands of dollars in unnecessary legal expenses, not to mention headaches and family fights when you are gone.

What kind of legacy are you going to leave behind?

We all have an opportunity to plan now. And frankly, the planning is not all about us.

It is your loved ones who will be the ones that have to live with the consequences of the planning you chose to put into place, or neglected to put into place, when you had the opportunity to do so.

A sound, effective succession plan truly is the best legacy and gift you can leave behind for your loved ones when you're gone.

Sound planning says to your family, “Hey. I love you enough to deal with an uncomfortable subject to make your life easier when I'm no longer here.”

Now that’s an amazing gift to leave your children.
